Quality assessment

So far, I guess everyone knows this cartoon:

It made me think the first time I saw it. But now I’m even more puzzled, after realizing this examination would met the criteria for quality assessment, and so it should objectively be considered as a “good” tool.

  1.  RELIABILITY. Multiple judges would probably give the same rank to animals according to their performance in this test.
  2. VALIDITY. cheating cannot take place in these standardized circumstances
  3. ACCURACY. he task would be valid job performance competence, if we wanted to select best climbers.

It would be a poor assessing tool, however, since much of what we value in education cannot be captured by this task. Fortunately. Too many cognitive conflicts for a Monday.
